When a fabricator is considering a steel detailing company, two questions must be answered. Is this detailer capable of keeping up with the aggressive schedule on the project? Is this detailer going to produce quality drawings that do not lead to expensive and time consuming fabrication and erection problems? These questions were answered during the detailing of the Goodyear project. The Goodyear project was a challenge that was met head on by our staff. The entire 4,000 tons needed to be completely out for approval in 16 weeks in spite of the fact that new/revised structural drawings were issued to us every other week throughout the project with no adjustments to the submittal schedule. Minuteman Drafting, Inc. not only met the demands of the aggressive schedule, but did so with a drawing quality that even allowed the erector on the project to set a new company record for pieces installed in a day. The erector was noted as saying that the time we spent making pieces as similar as possible and the lack of erection problems caused by detailing allowed their crew to install over 90 pieces per day several times, which was unheard of prior.
